My Experience with Writing

My experiences in writing have been positive for the most part. Most of my teachers and professors have had very little comments to make on my papers. I find that very frustrating at times. I wish they would write the good and the bad. I have always liked to read and write and have imagined myself someday freelance writing for magazines, though I don't have a clue how to start doing that. I think what would help me would be to step out of my box a little and write a short story and actually finish it, and to write about something that I don't necessarily know so much about to begin with. The papers I write for my classes are at most 5 pages and almost always non-fiction. Creating a fictional story that could be submitted to a magazine or writing an interesting article would get me one step further in learning about the writing process, in my opinion. I have not worked very much with plot or how to develop characters, so that would be a good thing to try as well.
